    Kentucky’s key bourbon and auto industries play a crucial role in the Commonwealth’s economy. On July 12, 2018, Congressman Barr questioned Treasury Secretary Mnuchin on the negative impacts of retaliatory tariffs on Kentucky consumers and these iconic industries.
  • House Passes Barr’s Legislation to Fight Opioid Epidemic

    On June 14, 2018, the House passed Congressman Barr’s Transitional Housing for Recovery in Viable Environments (THRIVE) Act. This legislation goes beyond prevention and treatment to focus on long-term recovery by expanding housing options for individuals who are transitioning out of addiction treatment and require additional support.
  • Barr Attends Signing Ceremony for Financial Regulatory Relief Package

    On May 24, 2018, Congressman Barr joined other leaders at the signing of S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, at the White House. More than half of the provisions included in this legislation originated from the House Financial Services Committee, including two of Congressman Barr’s legislative priorities.
  • Two Legislative Priorities of Rep. Barr Sent to President’s Desk

    On May 22, 2018, the House passed S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, the most pro-growth regulatory relief legislation in a generation. This package includes two bills introduced by Congressman Barr – the Portfolio Lending and Mortgage Access Act and the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act.
  • House Passes Rep. Barr’s Military SAVE Act

    On May 21, 2018 the House passed Congressman Barr’s Military Sexual Assault Victim Empowerment Act. This legislation would give survivors of military sexual trauma the ability to seek treatment from a community health care provider and require the VA to identify deficiencies in its treatment process.
  • Rep. Barr Welcomes Department of the Interior to Camp Nelson

    Congressman Barr welcomed National Park Service Deputy Director Dan Smith to the Community Forum on the Future of Camp Nelson on May 19, 2018. Deputy Director Smith was able to witness first-hand the community support for this site’s inclusion as a unit of the National Park System.

    During a hearing at the House Financial Services Committee, Congressman Barr shares with Treasury Secretary Mnuchin how Karen in Lexington, Kentucky will be able to keep more of her hard earned paycheck thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
  • Rep. Barr Fights Opioid Epidemic by Empowering Kentuckians

    As the third highest opioid overdose mortality rate in the nation, it is critical that Congress do more to combat the opioid epidemic. Therefore, Congressman Barr introduced two bills that go beyond current treatment and prevention policies to empower individuals to rise above poverty and addiction.
