Thune on Confirmation of Federal Trade Commissioners
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, issued the following statement on the confirmation of five presidential nominees to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
“Today, the Senate confirmed a full slate of commissioners to the FTC, restoring full capacity to the agency after operating with only two commissioners for over a year,” said Thune. “The FTC is a critically important agency focused on ensuring both consumer protection and fair competition in the marketplace. I am grateful to Acting Chairman Ohlhausen and Commissioner McSweeny for their leadership over the past year, and look forward to working with the new chairman and commissioners on challenging issues such as robocalling, privacy and data security as they step into their new roles.”
This evening, by voice vote, the Senate confirmed the following nominations:

• Mr. Joseph Simons, of Virginia, to be a Federal Trade Commissioner, Chairman Designate
• Mr. Rohit Chopra, of New York, to be a Federal Trade Commissioner
• Mr. Noah Joshua Phillips, of Maryland, to be a Federal Trade Commissioner
• Ms. Christine S. Wilson, of Virginia, to be a Federal Trade Commissioner
• Ms. Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, of Maryland, to be a Federal Trade Commissioner
