Hundreds celebrate Hermosa protection

President Obama signs act into law on joyous day
Hundreds of people attended a celebration for the Hermosa Creek Watershed Protection Act on Friday at the Powerhouse Science Center in Durango. Later Friday, President Barack Obama signed act into law. “The way it was passed was kind of objectionable,” said Larry Zauberis, center, who said he was glad the act was passed, but did not think it should have been part of the National Defense Authorization Act, an omnibus spending bill. At left is U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, at right is U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, who were critical to the bill’s passage.
