WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Tom Carper (D-Del) and David Perdue (R-Georgia) introduced a bipartisan resolution declaring the week of April 11–15, 2016, as National Assistant Principals Week to honor and recognize the contributions of assistant principals to the success of students in schools across the United States.

“Throughout my career in public service, and particularly during my eight years as governor, few issues have been more important to me than raising student achievement and improving America’s schools,” said Senator Carper. “School leaders play a key role in supporting our teachers and students, and helping to raise student success in the classroom. I’m grateful for the tireless work of our assistant principals across the country and in Delaware, and I’m proud to join my colleagues to celebrate their hard work and dedication to our children’s future.”

“Assistant Principals play a key role in our education system and their efforts deserve to be recognized,” said Senator Perdue. “As the son of two school teachers, I know first-hand how hard our educators and administrators work to help our children succeed.
