Combatting the Fentanyl Crisis
Overdoses are now the leading cause of preventable death among people ages 18 to 45. Rates of overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids other than methadone, which includes fentanyl and fentanyl analogs, increased over 56% from 2019 to 2020. -

“It is no secret that the Pentagon severely missed the mark when implementing its COVID-19 vaccine mandate,” said Congressman Lamborn. “I am concerned that the Department of Defense’s heavy-handed approach will exacerbate our military readiness challenges in the short and long term. The Pentagon’s haphazard response to the military recruitment crisis it faces has so far included failing to meet recruitment goals, drastically reducing recruitment standards, and now slating 100,000 servicemembers for involuntary discharge. While our adversaries are closing the gap on our qualitative military edge, we cannot afford to lose these highly skilled and credentialed men and women in uniform or the supporting civilian workforce. I thank Congressmen Johnson, Roy, and Massie for leading this effort, and will continue to fight for the first amendment freedoms of our men and women in uniform.”

“Joe Biden’s highly irresponsible decision to arbitrarily forgive student loan debt takes away an incentive for those contemplating joining our all-volunteer Armed Forces,” said Congressman Doug Lamborn. “Military recruiters are already struggling to achieve lowered recruitment goals with reduced standards. Now, they will have one less incentive to offer those who wish to join our military as the value of GI benefits is reduced. Biden’s tone-deaf approach toward our very serious and dangerous readiness issue is especially concerning given the threats we face and our already diminishing personnel levels.”

No one should be labeled suspicious for simply exercising their right to keep and bear arms, which the Constitution expressly protects.”
