Guam Fisherman's CO-OP Facility Project
Community Project Funding Requests
As required by the House Committee on Appropriations, Community Project Funding requests for the Fiscal Year 2022 measure is posted here. I have requested the following project:

Project Description: The funds will be able to complete the long-awaited Guam Fishermen’s Cooperative Facility, which will provide our local fishermen and our community with a foundation that will continue to deliver and provide essential services and locally sourced food for our island.
Explanation of Taxpayer Value: The new Facility will include the construction of a seawall that will shield fishermen’s boats from inclement weather, a fuel station for fishing vessels, seafood receiving and processing station, a storefront for fishermen to market and sell their catch, vendor spaces for third- party fishing-related consumer equipment and goods, a meeting space for fishermen to congregate and meet, a maritime learning center designed to teach boater and marine safety and other related courses, and a maritime search and rescue base for the communication with and monitoring of fishing vessels off the coast of Guam. This state-of-the-art space and access to improved resources will be tremendously valuable to the community and crucial to the success of our local fishermen. With over 80% of consumer goods and food products imported to the island, the pandemic has underscored the need for more locally sourced food and greater access and new opportunities for individuals who wish to be self-sustaining.
