Neighborhood Electric Vehicles


A neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) is 4-wheeled vehicle and have top speeds between 20 and 25 miles per hour, defined as “Low Speed Vehicles.” Look to "What's a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle?" for more information describing NEV's.

The Neighborhood EV Study (PDF 246 KB) reports summarizes a study of 15 automotive fleets that operate NEVs in the United States. A total of 348 NEVs in a variety of missions were a part of the study.

The NEVAmerica Technical Specifications (PDF 87 KB) were used to define the minimum requirements for a NEV tested in the baseline performance testing.

The NEVAmerica Test Procedures were followed in baseline performance testing of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles.
