Saturday, October 09, 2004 Indian Head to Receive $23 Million in Completed Defense Bills
WASHINGTON - The U.S. House of Representatives passed the fiscal year 2005 Military Construction Appropriations and Defense Authorization Conference Reports today that provide funds for two projects important to Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center and Charles County. Only one of these projects was included in the President's fiscal year 2005 budget, the other was added to the bills at the request of Congressman Hoyer.
Saturday, October 09, 2004 Hoyer Delivers $40 Million for VXX Presidential Helicopter Program To Be Located at Pax River
WASHINGTON - The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the fiscal year 2005 Defense Authorization and Military Construction Appropriations Conference Reports, providing $40 million to begin construction on a new facility at Patuxent River Naval Air Station to house the Marine Corps' Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program. The Defense Authorization Conference Report also directs the U.S. Navy to expedite a land transfer of 5 acres to the State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

WASHINGTON, DC Representatives Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Tom Davis (R-VA), Frank Wolf (R-VA), Jim Moran (D-VA), Albert Wynn (D-MD), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), released the following joint statement today announcing that at their request, the District of Columbia Appropriations Conference Report for FY 2005, approved by the House of Representatives yesterday, included $300,000 in federal funds for the Capital Area Food Bank.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Hoyer today joined First Alert, in conjunction with the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI), to donate thousands of dollars worth of smoke alarms to the District of Columbia Fire & Emergency Medical Services Department. BELTSVILLE, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined the VERB Campaign to promote physical activity among students. VERB, a campaign being run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), brought its nationwide tour to Beltsvilles Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. The 16-week, nearly 100-city tour across the United States inspires children to get active by highlighting fun physical activities, such as basketball, skateboarding, soccer and dance. Congressman Hoyer also discussed recent legislation he introduced in Congress to promote school-based programs to reduce and prevent childhood obesity, increase physical activity, and help students make good nutritional choices.
