Hoyer (D-MD) and Congressman Roger Wicker (R-MS), with support from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, introduced H.R. 5390—the Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act of 2006, a measure to improve programs for cancer survivors. The Lance Armstrong Foundation was founded by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong to help cancer patients live strong.

Res. 788, which supports the goals and ideals of Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, released the following statement today in recognition of National Police Week, observed May 15-19. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today visited the Harbour School in Annapolis to learn about the facility’s programs and discuss some of the challenges facing special needs education.
Harbour is one of the few regional schools that has a comprehensive program to provide direct educational services to children with autism.
