Touring Options


Regular guided tours begin at the Cathedral’s west end. Please click here for touring hours. Please call (202) 364-6616 for a weekly listing of special events or check the touring conflict information for times tours may be curtailed due to special events. Donations for regular tours: $3 adult, $2 senior citizen, $1 child. Please check fee and time information separately for each special tour below. Proceeds support Cathedral programs and ministry. Due to heavy tourist demand March through June, tours may be slightly shorter.
Reservations are required year-round for all groups visiting the Cathedral for any reason. If you will be visiting as a group, please consult Group Visit information.
Important Notice Regarding Garage Construction: During an 18-month garage construction project beginning July 2005, there will be changes in access, parking availability and traffic patterns at the Cathedral. Please click here for information and current updates.

Guided Tour
Take a docent led tour of the Cathedral’s art, architecture and history.

Focus on a special aspect of Cathedral arts or other areas. First Sunday of most months at 1:30 pm. For ages 10+.

Enjoy a specialty or in-depth tour and seated afternoon tea in the Pilgrim Observation Gallery, featuring a view from high above Washington.

The Bishops Garden

Garden Tour
All Hallows Guild docents take visitors on a one hour tour of the gardens from April 1 through October 31, except August, during which no garden tours are offered.

View a fantastic slide show of the Cathedral’s creepy critters, hear stories of their creation and take a walk to view them.

Self-Guided Tour
Tour the gargoyles, sculptures, and west-end with an informational hand-out.

Behind the Scenes Tours
10:30 am & 1:30 pm Monday through Friday, July 5 through February 28
See the “other side” of the vaulting, glimpse bosses, gargoyles and stained glass windows up close and find new views of the city from on high. Must be at least 11 years old, have sensible shoes (lots of stairs) and be comfortable in close quarters and with heights.
