WASHINGTON, DC –– U.S. Senator Kit Bond today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved more than $1.9 million in federal dollars for Missouri’s air-transportation needs.
“These dollars will help improve and modernize Missouri’s transportation system,” said Bond, who has been a champion of Missouri’s transportation needs since he was Governor. “I am pleased I was able to secure these funds for the state, and I will continue to use my position as Missouri’s senior Senator for Missouri’s benefit.”
The $1,926,232 in federal dollars for Missouri includes the following projects:
* $1,656,232 for Lambert-St. Louis International in St. Louis for the rehabilitation of the taxiway. As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Bond secured these dollars for Lambert in the fiscal year 2000 Transportation Appropriations bill. * $270,000 for Missouri’s state Airport System Plan, which will take a comprehensive look at all general aviation airports including those in Kansas City and St. Louis. The study will include a number of major components, including Inventory, Forecasts, Functional Role Analysis, System Evaluations, Options and Compliance Ratings, CIP Update, Pavement Condition Study, Public Outreach Program and an Economic Benefit Study.
Kit Bond served Missouri twice as Governor and now continues his service to Missourians in the United States Senate.
