WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Kit Bond and Jim Talent announced today that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved more than $800,000 in federal funds for key Missouri transportation projects.

"Improving our transportation infrastructure is about more than concrete and technology," said Bond, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that funds the Department of Transportation. "These projects are critical to improving safety, growing our economy, creating jobs and improving the quality of life for Missouri families."

“Transportation funding means jobs for Missouri,” said U.S. Senator Jim Talent (R-Mo.). “The Flintlock Road Overpass is a priority and this funding will create jobs now and help protect our safety and economic prosperity in the future.”

Senators Bond and Talent announced that the DOT will send Missouri $803,868 for transportation infrastructure projects. This money is in addition to the $4 million the Senators announced for Southwest Missouri earlier today.

* Flintlock Road Overpass in Liberty - $579,892. These funds are part of a $1 million earmark Senators Bond and Talent secured in the fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations bill.

* I-44 Bridge at the Meramec River - $115,978.

* Kansas City Metro Area Intelligent Transportation System - $107,998. Senator Bond secured these funds in the fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations bill.
