Jobs & Job Training

Strengthening Job Training for American Workers and Promoting U.S. Jobs in a Worldwide Economy

H.R. 27, the Job Training Improvement Act

Republicans believe strengthening worker training and education programs is critical to putting Americans back to work and creating jobs.  Through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) system created in 1998, job seekers have access to labor job training services, counseling, and market information to help them get back on their feet.  While the 1998 reforms have improved the overall job training system, areas of inefficiency and duplication remain.

On the opening day of the 109th Congress, Committee leaders introduced the Job Training Improvement Act (H.R. 27), legislation that would strengthen and improve America’s job training system to help states and communities ensure workers get the training they need to find good jobs.  House Republicans will continue to push for legislation to strengthen our job training system and help job seekers find good jobs and reenter the workforce.
