WASHINGTON - Senator Kit Bond today announced his recommendations for the members to serve on Missouri’s Farm Service Agency Board.

“These folks are the right ones for the job,” said Bond. “They are all farmers and they will serve Missouri farmers with understanding and integrity.”

FSA state committees are responsible for the general direction and supervision of state FSA programs. Committee members inform farmers of Agency program activities and work to resolve appeals and complaints. Also, members build and maintain cooperative relationships with the agribusiness community.

Senator Bond’s recommendations for Missouri’s FSA Board are:

*Don Fischer, a lifetime resident and farmer from Corder, MO operates 655 acres of corn and soybeans alongside his wife.

*Julie Hurst has been farming with her family since 1977, raising corn and soybeans in her hometown of Westboro, MO. She is also the owner and manager of Hurst Greenery, an acre-plus greenhouse production facility, selling bedding plants, perennials, and fall plants to garden centers in four states.

* Fred Ferrell has been farming Ferrell Farms since 1964, where he raises corn, wheat and soybeans and operates a Chiania/Angus cow operation in Charleston, MO. He is also the Owner and CEO of Mid-Valley Irrigation, Inc.

*Craig Westfall owns and operates a 70-head dairy cow herd on 170 acres in Halfway, MO. Also, in partnership with his father, he produces beef cattle and hay.

*Barb Wilson and her husband have been farming since 1984. She raises corn and soybeans on her 1,000 acre farm in Mexico, MO. Beyond the experience and dedication of working on a farm, the credentials of the five outstanding Missourians Senator Bond recommended to serve on Missouri’s FSA board also include extensive community service, such as service on various boards like the Farm Bureau, Corn Growers, and Dairy Farmers of America.
