Concord, NH---- Congressman Paul Hodes today released the following statement in response to FEMA’s decision to include Merrimack and Strafford Counties in President Bush’s disaster declaration for the July 24^th severe weather. Congressman Hodes had written to FEMA Administrator Paulison last week to urge inclusion of these counties.

"I am very pleased that these two counties will be included in the disaster declaration, including the towns of Epsom and Pittsfield which were hit hardest by this storm. I worked closely with Governor Lynch, federal, state and local officials to make sure that these communities had the federal resources they need to rebuild from these devastating storms. I appreciate the work of Administrator Paulison and Region One Director Art Cleaves in working with us to recognize the need in these counties and make the right decision.

I also plan to continue to work with federal officials and Governor Lynch to ensure that communities affected by last week’s flooding also receive necessary relief."
