Brown Applauds Senate Passage of Legislation to Extend Unemployment Insurance
November 20, 2008
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today praised Senate passage of legislation to extend unemployment insurance. This bill would provide seven additional weeks of benefits for unemployed workers whose insurance has run out and 13 additional weeks for jobless workers in states like Ohio with unemployment rates higher than 6 percent. Since October, more than 50,000 Ohioans have exhausted their emergency federal funds.
The bill will now go to the president to be signed into law.
