My office is here to help if you are experiencing a problem with a federal agency. Please contact the staff in one of my District Offices to discuss your situation. The Privacy Act of 1974 requires that Members of Congress and their staff have written authorization before they can obtain information about an individual's case. My office will need you to print out and complete a Privacy Act Release before we inquire about your claim. Also, copies of any documents or correspondence that you may have from the agency involved
may be helpful.

When I took office in 1999 I inherited 38 cases. Since that time I have opened over 5,000 cases on behalf of Southwest Washington residents to resolve problems they faced with the federal government. Out of completed cases 99% were resolved either favorably or satisfactorily.

There is a story behind every case:
An elderly couple living in Olympia on a fixed income had major damage done to their home by the Nisqually Earthquake. Their home was deemed unsafe. The couple needed to have their heating system replaced, a chimney strap installed, and cracks in the walls, ceiling and floors repaired. The total cost of making their home livable was estimated at $12,000. FEMA provided the couple $3,000. I successfully appealed FEMAs decision, and the couple received an additional $5,000 to fix their heating system.
