Friends —

After nearly a half-century in the nation's capital, Newhouse News Service will close its doors Nov. 7.

We've been honored to represent the daily newspapers owned by Advance Publications Inc., and to share their excellent stories and photos with the world. And we've especially enjoyed the opportunity to connect with a wider world of readers via the Web.

Newhouse.com will remain up and functioning for our member editors between now and when we turn out the lights. But we have ceased updating Web content.

We've appreciated every visitor, and wish all of you good reading, wherever you may find it!

Sincerely,

Linda Fibich
Editor and Washington Bureau Chief
