Santa Fe County was established in 1852 as one of the original 9 counties. Santa Fe, the capital city of New Mexico, has a rich history dating back to 1610 when the Spanish founded the city and declared it the capital. Santa Fe is one of the oldest capital cities in the United States.

Santa Fe offers more than an interesting history lesson; the city is filled with art, cultural events, and music. From the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum to the Santa Fe Opera productions, Santa Fe is the art aficionado’s dream.

Santa Fe County is also a great place for outdoor recreation. If you prefer driving, the Turquoise Trail is 61.2 miles of beautiful scenery that connects Albuquerque to Santa Fe. During the winter, Ski Santa Fe offers excellent skiing.
