U.S. Army soldiers from the 503rd Infantry Division in Vicenza, Italy, shoot the rapids as part of Warrior Adventure Quest event in September, 2008. The high-adventure recreation program gives soldiers a new way to transition from combat to a “new normal,” reducing the potential for high-risk behaviors that are counterproductive to unit training requirements.
