(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill wants to ensure that applicable counties in the Ninth Congressional District are aware of FEMA’s decision to extend the Request for Public Assistance (RPA) by 30 days. RPAs are typically submitted by county and local jurisdictions, and certain private-non-profits following a disaster designation.
According to a release issued by FEMA, the normal deadline for submittals of RPAs -typically 30 days following a disaster declaration - has been extended due to the volume of applications. The information below, provided by FEMA, shows declaration dates, original deadlines, and extended deadlines for affected counties in Southern Indiana.
Designation: 10/16/08 Original Deadline: 11/14/08 Extended Deadline: 12/14/08 Counties: Clark, Crawford, Dearborn, Harrison, Jefferson, Jennings, Ripley, Scott, Switzerland and Washington.
Designation: 10/24/08 Original Deadline: 11/22/08 Extended Deadline: 12/22/08 Counties: Dubois, Floyd, Jackson, Ohio, Orange, Perry and Spencer.
“I’m pleased with FEMA’s decision to extend this deadline,” Hill said. “I urge folks to take advantage of this extra time and submit their information as soon as possible. As always, if my office can be of assistance with this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”
Hill’s Jeffersonville office can be reached toll-free at 1-866-440-1321. The Bloomington office’s phone number is 812-336-3000.
