DENVER, CO – U.S. Representative Diana DeGette (CO-01) announced on May 13 that the U.S. Department of Transportation will provide $68.85 million in grants for the continued funding of the T-REX Southeast Corridor Light Rail Project for 2003.

The funding for the Regional Transportation District and the Colorado Department of Transportation will help implement a 19.12 mile, 13 station light rail line for service between Denver and Lincoln Avenue in Douglas County along I-25 with a spur along I-225 to Parker Road in Arapahoe County. When completed, it will connect with the Central Corridor and Southwest light rail lines.

“T-REX is a critical part of the Denver area’s growth as an economic hub and as a great place to live. I am pleased to help ensure that it receives the funding it needs to remain on-track and on-time,” said Rep. DeGette. “As one of the fastest growing metro areas in the nation, the Denver area needs to continue to expand its transportation infrastructure. The Southeast Corridor line will help us address our area’s current and future transportation needs and fuel the creation of new jobs, development opportunities, improved quality of life and reduced air pollution.”
