“It is so very sad to hear that Tim Russert has died.   This nation has lost not only an outstanding journalist, but an American patriot.  He glowed with his love for politics, for this country, and especially his native Buffalo, New York.  The last time we spoke, I saw him on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC.  Whenever we saw each other, we would always talk about Buffalo, his hometown, and the city where some of my relatives now live.  He was always warm, always open, and engaging.  

“As the consummate host of Meet the Press, his analysis of all the great issues of the day informed millions of Americans and people all over the world whose lives are shaped by the decisions of our government.  This one man served our society so well, by asking questions and offering us all some of the vital information we need to take action as voters and citizens of a democracy. 

    “Tim Russert made a lasting contribution to our society.  We must hold his family in our hearts and prayers.  He will be deeply missed.”
