On Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building the Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service, and the District of Columbia will hold a hearing entitled, “Are Agencies Playing It Safe and Secure: An Examination of Worker Protections Pre- and Post-Injury.” The purpose of the upcoming hearing is to address the safety standards and practices employed by Federal agencies to ensure that employees are not exposed to excessive amounts of carcinogens and ionizing radiation and to reduce workplace injuries and accidents. Additionally, the upcoming hearing will focus on how well the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act is meeting the needs of injured workers in high-risk occupations.
