“Female D.C. Code Felons: Unique Challenges in Prison and At Home” |
On Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building the Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service, and the District of Columbia will hold a hearing entitled, “Female D.C. Code Felons: Unique Challenges in Prison and At Home.” Like their male counterparts, female prisoners from the District of Columbia experience unique challenges because they are imprisoned far away from their homes and support networks. Female D.C. Code felons commonly face distinct challenges regaining custody of their children, managing their intimate and social relationships, and generally reintegrating back into society. Given these concerns, the upcoming hearing will examine various issues and challenges surrounding female D.C. Code felons in prison and at home.
