Visiting Washington, D.C.

Planning a trip to Washington, D.C.?

I invite you and your family to stop by my office during your visit to Washington, DC.  My office is open  Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m and is located at 1005 Longworth House Office Building.   Please be advised that the only parking available is on-street parking – I would encourage you to use public transportation when visiting the U.S. Capitol.  The nearest Metro Stop is on the Blue/Orange Line – Capitol South.

Scheduling a US Capitol tour:

To schedule a Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) guided tour of the US Capitol Building, visit www.visitthecapitol.gov.  Under Quick Links, select “Book a Tour” followed by “Book A Tour Yourself Online” and finally “Make New Reservation”.  These tours are given Monday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

US Capitol tours last approximately one (1) hour to one and one-half hours (1.5).  Please be patient as some tours can last up to (3) three to (4) four hours depending on the demand for tours in the Capitol at the given time.

As a general rule, due to the Congressional work calendar, my office can provide a limited number of staff-led tours of the Capitol on Mondays and Fridays.  If this is of interest to you, please let my office know.

Visiting the White House

The White House is open for tours Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Friday – Saturday from 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Tour hours are subject to change based on the official White House schedule.  There are no White House tours on Sundays and Mondays.   Tour requests will be submitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that the White House’s Tour Department determines the date and time, approval, and/or denial of all tour requests.   Our office does not receive confirmation of tour requests until 2 weeks prior to the requested date(s).

All requests should be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or faxed to 202.225.5663. In your request, please include:

  • Requestor’s name
  • E-mail address
  • Physical address in the 9th district
  • Contact phone number
  • The number of people in your White House tour party
  • And a range of tour request dates.  Please refer above for available days and times for tours.

Please send your initial request as soon as possible as White House tour requests are processed no later than a month prior to the dates you request – the White House does not accept tour requests that are more than six months away. Once this request is received, you will receive information on additional requirements for the White House.
