Statement of Chairman Edolphus “Ed” Towns on the Secret Service’s Briefing on the White House Security Breach

Washington, DC – Chairman Edolphus “Ed” Towns (D-NY) released the following statement after the Secret Service briefed Members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the White House security breach.

“We heard today that the Secret Service violated security protocols when they allowed an uninvited couple through security checkpoints during the White House state dinner.  The Secret Service indicated today that they are currently reviewing White House security procedures to ensure White House security protocols are sufficient and consistently followed.  My committee is already reviewing Secret Service management and we will continue that oversight.  In addition, I have asked the Secret Service to follow up with me in thirty days to review the steps they have taken to make certain these security protocols are followed.”
