For immediate release: Wednesday, June 30, 2010 Oversight Committee to Examine Government-wide Transition to Cloud ComputingWashington – On Thursday, July 1, 2010, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Subcommittee on Government Management, Organization, and Procurement will hold a joint hearing to examine the benefits and challenges of the Federal government’s transition to cloud computing. The joint hearing, entitled, “Cloud Computing: Benefits and Risks of Moving Federal IT into the Cloud,” will focus on the Obama Administration’s strategy for cloud computing technology and services, plans for implementation, coordination of activities among federal entities and other issues related to the government-wide transition to cloud computing. On June 9, 2010, Chairman Towns and Subcommittee Chairman Diane Watson (D-CA) began an examination of the overall implementation of Federal cloud computing services. The hearing will take place at 10:00 a.m. in room 2154 Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing will be webcast on the committee’s website: http://oversight.house.gov.
