Chairman Towns Announces Hearing to WASHINGTON – Chairman Edolphus “Ed” Towns (D-NY) today announced that the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will hold a hearing on Thursday, September 23, 2010 entitled, “Transition in Iraq: Is the State Department Prepared to Take the Lead?” The hearing will examine issues raised by the Commission on Wartime Contracting’s report, released on July 12, 2010, entitled, “Better Planning for Defense-to-State Transition in Iraq Needed to Avoid Mistakes and Waste.” The Committee will receive testimony from the co-chairmen of the Commission, Christopher Shays and Michael Thibault and the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR) Stuart Bowen.
