The Office of History and Preservation (OHP) collects, preserves, and interprets the heritage of the House of Representatives. Established under the Office of the Clerk in 2002, OHP provides a variety of services concerning House history, the House’s art and artifacts Collection, and the records of the House. Historical Web and print publications include maintaining the House entries of the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress along with other publications mandated by the House. OHP curates the House Collection of art and artifacts, including activities such as acquisition and care of collection objects, and art-related services to Members and staff. OHP is also the custodian of the records of the House and provides guidance to Committee staff and Member office staff on records management.
