COSTELLO ATTENDS TRANSCOM AWARD CEREMONY AT SCOTT AFB
SCOTT AFB, IL - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) attended the Award Ceremony today at Scott Air Force Base, where the U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) was presented with the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. Also participating in the Award Ceremony were Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Army Gen. David Petraeus, Commander of the U.S. Central Command, who overseas operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Air Force Gen. Duncan McNabb Commander of U.S. Transportation Command.
“The men and women of TRANSCOM are among the unsung heroes of our nation’s military,” said Costello. “Whether moving troops and supplies or assisting with catastrophe relief, such as recently in Haiti, the personnel of TRANSCOM have saved countless lives and made critical contributions to mission success. I commend the men and women of the U.S. Transportation Command.”
