WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Valmeyer Fire Protection District and the Millstadt Rural Fire District have both received a grant – in the amount of $94,894 to Valmeyer and $66,571 to Millstadt – through the Assistance to Firefighters program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Valmeyer received funds allocated for vehicle acquisition, and Millstadt’s grant will be used for operations and safety improvements. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
“These awards will enhance fire protection services and safety in our area,” said Costello. “Our first responders put their lives on the line every day, and their dedication deserves our full support.”
