BOREN NAMED TO HOUSE SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren was named this week to the U.S. House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence by the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.  This is one of the very few Committees in Congress that is a direct appointment by the Speaker of the House instead of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.  Boren adds the Intelligence Committee assignment to his current assignments of Committee on Natural Resources and the Armed Services Committee.

“It is an honor to be selected to the Intelligence Committee.  Selection to this Committee has been something that I’ve worked toward my entire career, and I look forward to working with Chairman Reyes and the entire Intelligence Community on the many national security challenges facing our great nation,” Boren said.

The House Select Committee is divided into the Subcommittee on Terrorism/HUMINT, Analysis and Counterintelligence, the Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence, the Subcommittee on Intelligence Community Management, and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The selection to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence will add to Boren’s already extensive background in legislative support and oversight of national security matters.  His interest in defense, national security, and intelligence services has taken him to the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia, and has been especially targeted at emerging democratic nations in Africa and military missions supported by AFRICOM.
