U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords today will join the Arizona Public Interest Research Group to release Trouble in Toyland, a comprehensive survey of toy safety.
This year’s 57-page survey focuses on several categories of toy dangers, including choking hazards, excessive noise and the presence of lead. It also offers safety guidelines for purchasing toys.
Release of the survey comes after the recall of more than 20 million toys manufactured in China because of various hazards.
The 2007 Trouble in Toyland is the 22nd annual suvey of toy safety by the Public Interest Research Group, a nationwide network of nonpartisan public interest advocacy organizations.
Giffords will explain what Congress is doing to protect the public from dangerous toys.
