U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is pleased to announce that Jacquelyn L. Jackson started work this week as her director of community outreach.
Jackson brings to the high-profile post a broad range of experience in public policy and communications, most recently as the director of government relations for Pima Community College.
Jackson has also served as vice president of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council, vice president of development at Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona, director of communications for the National Osteoporosis Foundation, and director of the Washington office of the Times Mirror Company.
Working out of the congresswoman's Tucson district office, Jackson will represent Giffords with various constituent groups throughout Southeastern Arizona. She will focus on issues concerning economics, business, renewable energy, women, law enforcement, and the faith community.
Jackson will work closely with Giffords' district director, Ron Barber, who oversees a staff of eight in the congresswoman's Tucson and Sierra Vista offices.
Jackson holds a bachelor's degree from California State College and a master's degree from the Catholic University of America.
