U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will hold a news conference on Wednesday, February 21 following her fact finding trip to Iraq and Israel.
The Tucson lawmaker, a member of the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees, will meet with reporters at 4 p.m., immediately after her arrival at Tucson International Airport.
Giffords was part of a four-day congressional delegation tour led by U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona. U.S. Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee and U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce of New Mexico were also on the trip. U.S. Rep. Jane Harman of California joined the delegation in Israel.
The fact-finding tour included meetings with American military officers and enlisted men and women, Iraqi government officials and Israeli government officials. Among them were Gen. David Pretraeus, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Giffords' Southeastern Arizona district is home to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and Fort Huachuca. In Iraq, the congresswoman met with soldiers deployed from Arizona.
