Burton Statement On The Stimulus Bill Anniversary
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN-05) issued the following statement marking the one year anniversary of the day President Obama signed the so-called "stimulus" bill into law:
"President Obama's trillion dollar 'stimulus' bill was supposed to create jobs and keep the unemployment rate below 8%. Instead, unemployment went over 10%, millions of jobs were lost, and our nation is now buried in unprecedented debt. After a year of failed economic policies, President Obama has ignored the public outcry for a new direction and is pursuing a second spending package, cloaked under the name 'jobs bill.'
"I believe, in order to create jobs, we must reject the failed Big Government approach. It's time to cut and cap spending, and cut taxes for individuals, families, and businesses."
