The White House Agrees: Americans Deserve Same Health Care Options as Members of Congress

WASHINGTON. D.C. – Yesterday, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) challenged Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to hold an up-or-down vote on H.R. 3438, the Access to Insurance for All Americans Act which would give all Americans access to the same health benefit plans that Members of Congress and federal employees choose from for their health care coverage.  Today, Rep. Issa released a new video revealing the President, the First Lady and the Secretary of Health and Human Services – in their own words – supporting the concept behind Issa’s bill:

“Yesterday, you saw that President Obama and his team agree with me that you deserve the same high quality health care that Members of Congress have.  But what we don’t need is 2,000 additional pages of new government programs, regulations and spending.  That’s why I authored H.R. 3438.  It’s a fairly simple 7 page bill.

“It seems President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Secretary Sebelius all agree.  H.R. 3438 will give you the same high-quality health care Members of Congress have.  So I’m calling on Speaker Pelosi to give us a straight up-or-down vote on what President Obama says you deserve.”
