Issa Responds to Rahm’s Insights on Republicans’ Governing Philosophies PDF Print E-mail

WASHINGTON. D.C. – Responding to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s appearance on ABC’s This Week where he spoke of the two “governing philosophies” the American people can choose between, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) released the following statement:

“Rahm is right – there are two very different governing philosophies that the American people will have to choose between.  “Our governing vision embraces the need for an entrepreneurial insurgency, governing by transparency, living within our means and holding those accountable who trade safety for profit while also looking inward at the failures of government and aggressively reforming the bureaucracy before a crisis hits, not after it.

“By contrast, the Obama Administration’s philosophy has been to embrace a say anything, do anything, Chicago-style mentality that speaks to address the politics of the moment rather being mindful of their impact on our future.  It’s a philosophy that has jeopardized the future solvency of our children and grandchildren’s financial stability by deficit spending at a pace that is unparalleled and unsustainable.  That has embraced Rahm’s mantra of never letting a good crisis go to waste by using the catastrophe in the Gulf to advance a massive and punishing energy tax on the very Americans who are struggling to retain and find jobs.  They have used the power of the Oval Office to try and manipulate primary elections and then use the guise of a self-investigation to exonerate and justify their hypocritical actions.”
