U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service - The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service recognized Senator Gregg “with our sincere appreciation” for “your outstanding support to the National Wildlife Refuge System.” Awarded: October 2005

National Parks Conservation Association - “Friend of the National Parks” for votes on park issues in the 108th Congress that uphold the standards and integrity of the National Park System or protected the parks from harm. Awarded: February 2005

Seacoast Land Trust - “Conservation Partner Award” for his dedication to conservation efforts in the Seacoast Region, including helping the Seacoast Land Trust protect a 10-acre peninsula in the Sagamore Creek estuary and to allow the Town of Rye to acquire the pristine Massacre Marsh property. Awarded: May 2004

Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests - Senator Gregg was honored with the Society’s “Conservationist of the Year”. Through his position on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Gregg was able to secure $8 million in federal funding in FY03, and $3.6 million the previous year, for the purchase of a conservation easement on the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Land. This funding represents the entire portion of the federal share of an easement on the land. Awarded: September 2003

The Nature Conservancy - TNC awarded Senator Gregg, who has secured millions for the protection of the Great Bay Estuary, with its “Conservation Leadership” award. The award was presented to Senator Gregg in appreciation for his dedication to conservation across New Hampshire’s landscape, from the Northern Forest to Great Bay. First time TNC-NH has given an award for conservation leadership. Awarded: June 2003

Appalachian Mountain Club - Awarded its first ever “Conservation Champion” award to Senator Gregg for his long term commitment to conservation in the State of New Hampshire, including projects like the Trailhead Protection Program, and other important conservation projects in the White Mountains and the North Country. Awarded: October 2003

Northern Forest Alliance - Senator Gregg was honored with the NFA’s “Northern Forest Champion” award for his strong commitment to the protection of the Northern Forest and significant work in the area of land protection. This is the most prestigious award given by the Northern Forest Alliance, which lauded Senator Gregg’s long-standing leadership in natural resource conservation and community revitalization in New Hampshire and throughout the Northern Forest. Awarded: November 2003

New Hampshire Timberland Owners’ Associations - Have honored Senator Gregg twice with its “Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award”, including in 2003, for repeatedly demonstrating his commitment to New Hampshire forest landowners and the forest products industry. More recent award: April 2003

Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership - Senator Gregg was honored by several environmental groups for his long-term efforts to conserve the Great Bay estuary covering 5,280 acres and spanning 48 miles of shoreline. At a ceremony at the Sandy Point Discovery Center in Stratham, Senator Gregg was recognized by the Partnership for his work to secure $24.6 million in funding through the National Estuarine Research Reserve System for urgent conservation work at Great Bay. Awarded: May 2002

Wildlife Management Institute - On behalf of the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Task Force, Senator Gregg accepted the 2003 “Touchstone Award” to recognize the diligence and creativity the Task Force used in designing a science-based protection strategy for the future of the former International Paper land. Senator Gregg co-chaired the Task Force and secured the necessary federal funding for the permanent protection of the land. Awarded: October 2003

Americans for our Heritage and Recreation - Honored Senator Gregg with its “Rough Rider” award (in recognition of President Theodore Roosevelt’s creation of the National Wildlife Refuge program) for his strong support of the Land and Water Conservation fund, a federal program that provides funding through the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service and the Forest Service to acquire and preserve recreational lands. In New Hampshire, Senator Gregg has secured LWCF funding for the Silvio O. Conte Wildlife Refuge, a watershed of the Connecticut River; the Great Bay National Estuary, the Lamprey River in Durham and Epping; Bretton Woods; Lake Tarleton in Warren; Pond of Safety in Randolph and Jefferson; and Pondicherry in Jefferson and Whitefield. Awarded: August 2003

The Coastal Conservation Association of New Hampshire, an organization comprised of recreational fishermen committed to marine conservation, and the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission both honored Senator Gregg for his continued support of marine conservation and protection efforts, especially at the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Association awarded its “Conservationist of the Year” award, and the Commission bestowed its annual “Chairman’s Award for Distinguished Meritorious Service” on Senator Gregg. As both the Chairman and former Ranking Member on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees funding for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Senator Gregg has been able to secure federal funding over the last several years to leverage the protection of 4,451 acres of important habitat at Great Bay. One of these success stories includes protection of the Great Bog in Portsmouth, a 260 acre tract of land in Portsmouth once planned as a housing development. Awarded: March 2003

Coastal America - Presented Senator Gregg with its “2002 Partnership Award” for the Little River Salt Marsh Restoration Project. The project restored the 170 remaining acres of degraded salt marsh through installation of new culverts and dredging of sediments in the tidal creeks. Senator Gregg was instrumental in providing the necessary funds needed to make the restoration of the Little River Salt Marsh in North Hampton and Hampton possible. The partnership Senator Gregg helped forge united federal, state and local governments, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector in a joint effort to restore tidal flushing to 170 acres of degraded salt marsh in North Hampton, NH. Awarded: November 2002

The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network - “Food Allergy Leader” for his efforts to make our nation’s food supply safer and bring awareness to food allergies. Awarded: October 2009.

Friends of Cancer Research - For support of the cancer research community, specifically his support of increased NIH funding and his drug safety surveillance bill that is now known as the FDA Sentinel initiative. Awarded March 2009.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America - For his steadfast support of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, and for being a champion for the needs of disadvantaged youth, Senator Gregg was given the BBBS “National Leadership Award.” As former Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees funding for the U.S. Department of Justice, Senator Gregg was instrumental in increasing federal support for juvenile mentoring programs like BBBS in New Hampshire and nationwide. Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation - “Legislative Award” for support in ensuring that funding under Title I of The Rehabilitation Act is used primarily for services that directly benefit persons with disabilities. Awarded: April 2005

Bay State Primary Care Association - “2005 Champion of Community Health Centers” award in sincere appreciation for your support of New Hampshire’s Community Health Centers. Awarded: March 2005

National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association - “Children’s Champion in Congress” award for his support of juvenile justice programs and child advocacy initiatives. Awarded: June 2004

Dover Youth Safe Haven - “Champion of Children” award for his efforts in providing support and resources to low-income children at the Dover Housing Authority and Woodman Park School, and for his support on education, environment and criminal justice issues. Awarded: May 2004

National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. - For his leadership during the 108th Congress, Senator Gregg was honored with the “2004 Distinguished Community Health Champion” award. The Association recognized Senator Gregg for protecting and strengthening America’s primary care safety net and preserving access to quality health care for nearly 15 million uninsured and medically underserved Americans. Awarded: March 2004

National Association of Community Health Centers (Bi-State Primary Care) - “2003 Distinguished Community Health Defender Award”. Commitment to strengthening America’s health centers and expand access to affordable health care for millions of medically underserved Americans. Awarded: March 2004

National Children’s Alliance - Senator Gregg was honored with the NCA’s “Champion of Children”, its annual award bestowed on those who make significant contributions to the lives of our nation’s youth. Senator Gregg was recognized for initiating and coordinating legislation, as well as securing significant federal funding, for programs such as Child Advocacy Centers, the creation of the “Cybertipline” which allows parents and kids to report on-line crimes, and work being done by the Crimes Against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children - “2002 Congressional Leadership Award”. Continued support of programs designed to keep children safe, including using his position of Chairman of CJS to aggressively fund the FBI’s Innocent Images program. Awarded: May 2002

New England Water Works Association - “The John Chafee Distinguished Public Servant Award” was presented to Senator Gregg. Bob Beaurivage from the Manchester Water Works, for which Senator Gregg obtained an earmark for modernizing the plant was on hand.

The New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association - “Certificate of Appreciation” for Senator Gregg’s persistent efforts regarding H-2B for The New Hampshire Hospitality Industry. Awarded: September 2005

The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics - “O.J. Hawkins Award.” CNJIS presented Senator Gregg with this award with for innovative leadership and outstanding contributions in criminal justice information systems, policy and statistics. Awarded: July 2005

Independent Bakers Association - “The Honorable Horst G. Denk Conressional Award” (Legislative Service Award) is awarded to those who have supported the baking industry and its goals, including agriculture and food industry issues. The IBA specifically recognized Senator Gregg for his leadership on commodity reform. Awarded: June 2005

Boston College Law School - The “Founders Medal” is the highest honor given by the Law School. The Law School gives the award to worthy members of the Law School community or legal profession who embody the traditions of professionalism, scholarship and service which BC Law seeks to instill in its students. City Year New Hampshire honored Senator Gregg with its “Lifetime of Service” award for his dedication and commitment to service projects across New Hampshire. Awarded: April 2005

New Hampshire Educational Opportunity Association awarded Senator Gregg with its “President’s Educational Leadership” award. The award, presented by the NHEOA on behalf of the New England Educational Opportunity Association, recognizes Senator Gregg’s commitment to education, specifically his efforts to expand equal educational opportunity for low income and first generation students. Awarded: December 2003

The New Hampshire chapter of the Disabled American Veterans honored Senator Gregg for his service, dedication and loyalty to the veterans community in the Granite State. The award was based on Senator Gregg’s support for many initiatives to improve the quality of life of veterans in New Hampshire and across the country, including: securing the assurances of the VA in 1999 that it would provide $7.15 million to the State of New Hampshire for the construction of a 100-bed nursing home care addition to the State Veterans Home in Tilton; securing funding for several Community Based Outpatient Clinics for veterans, including one at Pease and in the North Country; and lending his support to several legislative measures to raise awareness of issues important to veterans, including cosponsoring a measure that will designate the week which includes Veterans Day as National Veterans Awareness Week, encouraging the Department of Education and the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue creating and expanding educational programs designed to increase awareness of the contributions made by veterans to preserve the American way of life.
