GREGG COMMENTS ON SENATOR STEVENS

NEW HAMPSHIRE – U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) today issued the following statement on the passing of former Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK).
Senator Gregg stated, “Kathy and I were stunned and deeply saddened to learn today of the death of Senator Ted Stevens. Our prayers and deepest sympathies go out to his wife, Catherine, and his entire family. Ted was a close friend whom I greatly admired and with whom I enjoyed serving in the Senate for sixteen years. He was a true patriot, committed to his country and to the people of his beloved Alaska. Not only was he one of the most effective legislators of the last forty years, he also had an irrepressible amount of energy and a wonderful sense of humor. He was just a very special person, and it was a great honor to know and work beside him.
“Over the years our two families became good friends and fellow travelers on the political roads, thus our family wishes to express our great concern for Catherine, Lilly and the entire Stevens family.”
