The Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection held a hearing entitled “Do-Not-Track Legislation: Is Now the Right Time?” on Thursday, December 2, 2010, in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building. This hearing examined the feasibility of establishing a mechanism that provides Internet users a simple and universal method to opt-out from having their online activity tracked by data-gathering firms.

In light of another report highlighting the systemic failures that led to the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster, Reps. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.) and Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) are inviting new BP CEO Bob Dudley to testify before the Energy and Environment Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Rep Waxman chairs the full committee, and Rep. Markey chairs the subcommittee.
