Five new staffers join D.C. Office

January 9, 2007

Washington, D.C.
- {Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) announced the hiring of five new staffers for his Washington, D.C. office. The five hires augment the staff that carried over from his father, former Congressman Michael Bilirakis (FL-09).

The new hires are Collin Vause, Liz Hittos, John Randall, David Peluso and Monica Richter.

Collin and Liz will act as Legislative Counsel to the new Congressman. Prior to coming to Washington, Collin was a litigation attorney in private practice.  Before entering private practice, he was a Captain in the US Army JAG Corps. He has lived in the Tampa Bay area for 27 years.

Preceding her employment at Congressman Gus Bilirakis' office, Liz practiced criminal law: six and one half years as a state prosecutor and eight years in private practice with Gus Bilirakis. In addition, she served on Bilirakis' Congressional campaign team as the deputy campaign manager/press person.

John Randall will be the new office's press secretary. Previously, John was the Director of Radio & TV for the National Republican Congressional Committee and began his D.C. career at Edelman Public Relations.

David Peluso will be the office Executive Assistant/Systems Administrator. He began his work for the new Congressman during the campaign as the Finance Director. Prior to that, David interned for former Congressman Mike Bilirakis while earning a Bachelors degree in Technology Management from St. Petersburg College.

Monica Richter worked on the campaign and will assume the staff assistant duties later this month when she moves to the District.

"I am excited about these new hires. I believe mixing new people with staffers that have served the district for several years will ensure the residents of Florida's Ninth District continue to receive the highest level of service," Congressman Gus Bilirakis said.
