Congressman Murphy Announces New Farmers Market on Walkway Over the Hudson
During National Farmers Market Week, Hudson Farmers Market Will Provide Economic Opportunity to Dutchess Farmers

Washington, Jul 29 -

On Wednesday, August 4th, the Walkway Over the Hudson will host its first ever Farmers Market.  Local farmers and residents of Dutchess County approached Congressman Scott Murphy (NY-20) about the possibility of helping to create a Famers Market on the Walkway at his Buy Local Conference in Union Vale.  Murphy contacted the staff of the Walkway Over the Hudson about the project and has worked with them and Rep. Hinchey and Assemblyman Frank Skartados to ensure success and attendance.

"Farming is a critical part of our local economy in the Hudson Valley, with over 650 farms that generate $32 million in economic revenue each year," said Rep. Murphy.  "When local farmers approached me about helping them set up the first ever Farmers Market on the Walkway Over the Hudson, I knew that this was a great way to strengthen our community and support our local agricultural industry.”

Producers and consumers will be able to purchase local goods.  The Farmers Market will take place on August 4th from 3-7 PM on the east approach on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway Over the Hudson.  Below are some of the sellers who will be there:
