Clifton Park, NY, Oct 7 - On Friday, October 8th, Congressman Scott Murphy (NY-20) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack will host events in Upstate New York to discuss early childhood nutrition and how to help farmers succeed in the increasingly global economy.

At Poestenkill Elementary, Murphy and Vilsack will be joined by Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-21) to meet with the 5th grade class and discuss the importance of healthy school lunches and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  

After their visit to Poestenkill, Murphy and Vilsack will host a Farmers Roundtable at Golden Harvest in Valatie. This roundtable will be a good opportunity for local farmers, local agricultural leaders and members of the community to meet with Murphy and Vilsack to discuss both local and national agriculture-related issues.
