April 18, 2007, MURFREESBORO – The Tennessee State Veterans Home will renovate its facility with the help of an $822,500 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs grant, U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon announced today.
“The men and women who have fought to defend our country deserve quality health care,” Gordon said. “These renovations will enhance the facilities and quality of care for our local veterans.”
The grant will be used to renovate residents’ bathrooms, enlarge the kitchen area and put a new roof on the facility, according to Tennessee State Veterans Home Executive Director Polly Darnell.
“The kitchen area will be enlarged to make more room for preparing meals and much-needed equipment,” Darnell said. “We’re looking forward to renovating our facility and making it nicer for our veterans.”
Renovations will start in late May or June.
