Chairman Waxman Introduces Legislation to Open Telecom Networks Subsidized with Public Money |
Chairman Henry A. Waxman introduced legislation to require that recipients of federal universal service fund subsidies open their telecommunications networks to roamers on just and reasonable terms. H.R. 7000, the Universal Roaming Act of 2008 would require any telecommunications carrier receiving universal service support for the provision of services for rural, insular and high cost areas to offer automatic roaming services to any technically compatible carrier upon request.
