For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 18, 2010 Chairman Towns Invites FDA Commissioner to Hearing on Recall of Popular Pediatric Medication CommissionerHamburg asked to provide testimony on circumstances surrounding recallWASHINGTON – Chairman Edolphus “Ed” Towns (D-NY) today announced that another witness, FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, has been invited to testify during the committee’s upcoming hearing on the circumstances surrounding the voluntary recall of popular infant and children’s medicines produced by Johnson & Johnson/McNeil Consumer Healthcare. Chairman Towns has already invited William C. Weldon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson, to testify. Last week, Chairman Towns announced the hearing will take place on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. On May 5, 2010, Chairman Towns and Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) opened the committee’s investigation into the circumstances surrounding the voluntary recall of such widely used pediatric medications as Children’s Tylenol, Infants’ Tylenol, Children’s Motrin, and Children’s Benadryl. ### Documents and Links
