Committee Passes Government Efficiency, Information Security Bills
WASHINGTON - On Thursday, May 20, 2010, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a business meeting to mark up H.R. 2142, the Government Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Performance Improvement Act of 2009; H.R. 4900, the Federal Information Security Amendments Act of 2010; and several commemorative resolutions and postal naming bills.
The bills considered by the Committee were:
- H.R. 4900, the Federal Information Security Amendments Act of 2020. H.R. 4900 was favorably reported, as amended, by voice vote.
- H.R. 2142, the Government Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Performance Improvement Act of 2009;
- An amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Rep. Cuellar (D-TX) was adopted by unanimous consent.
- An amendment by Rep. Issa (R-CA to the amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Rep. Cuellar (D-TX) was adopted by unanimous consent.
- An amendment by Rep. Chaffetz (R-UT) to the amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Rep. Cuellar (D-TX) was adopted by unanimous consent.
- An amendment by Rep. Chu (D-CA) to the amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Rep. Cuellar (D-TX) was adopted by unanimous consent.
- An amendment by Rep. Schock (R-IL) to the amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Rep. Cuellar (D-TX) was rejected by a vote of 11-17.
The following commemorative resolutions and postal naming bills were considered and approved en bloc by voice vote:
- H. Res. 1121, introduced by Rep. Michael Turner. This measure congratulates Clinton County and the county seat of Wilmington, Ohio, on the occasion of their bicentennial anniversaries.
- H. Res. 1172, introduced by Rep. Mark Schauer. This measure recognizes the life and achievements of Will Keith Kellogg.
- H. Res. 1330, introduced by Rep. Sam Farr. This measure, as amended, recognizes June 8, 2010, as World Ocean Day.
- H. Res. 1357, introduced by Rep. Diane Watson. This measure commends and congratulates the Hollywood Walk of Fame on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
- H.R. 5278, introduced by Rep. Bill Foster. This measure designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 405 West Second Street in Dixon, Illinois, as the “President Ronald W. Reagan Post Office Building.”
