POLITICAL TURMOIL IN HONDURAS

The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere held a hearing on the political situation in Honduras following the expulsion of the president by a military coup. Witnesses testified about the events and policies that led to the coup and U.S. efforts to foster dialog between competing factions in Honduras. Several Republican members criticized the Obama administration for calling President Manuel Zelaya's ouster a coup and for urging his reinstatement.
